In essence, an honor system leans that there would be no roctors during exams and the udent would be on his honor not a cheat. Such a code means, also, hat the student would be respon- ble for reporting any instance. cheating he observed. At its October 26 meeting, SGC whether they wished to partici- pate in the experiment. Since about 10% of the school would be involved in any such ex- periment, Ron feels it unnecessary to conduct a school-wide vote. He also thinks a more informed vote can be taken as to a trial period if statistics from the experiment can be presented to the student body. Maynard Goldman, who wishes a school-wide trial period, states that a significant vote must pre- cede any installation of an honors system. He says that those initiat- ing the code cannot be arbitrary in choosing participants, but should carefully gauge student opinion. Another advocate of a school- wide trial, Scott Chrysler, asks equity for everybody. He feels that everyone should be under the same system. Scott also thinks that SGC in recommending any plan, and students in voting on it should de- mand the most' successful honor system.
