The trips numbered 16 a year. During this time she practiced three hours a day: She says her practice time is limited here at the University. Miss Osborn has been on Grand Rapids and Cadillac television shows and was featured in an article in Sports Ilustrated "last August. Wins Events She placed in four out of five events in the Turner Gymnastic Meet held in Detroit. Also she placed second in all of the State Amateur Athletic Union events. Miss Osborn worked at a gym camp with the gymnastics coach from the University of Illnois and several Olympic team winners last summer. Aside from hr interest in gym- nastics, Miss Osborn also enjoys all typ'es of music, participating in all sports and dancing. With her blond pony tail bouncing, she said, "I'm interested in everything from poetry to Indon't know what. I'm especially interested in people." Six Years of Lessons Miss Osborn took dancing les- sons for six years and has per- formed at several school functions, including "Girl Crazy," this year's Soph Show. When asked what her pet peeve in connection with gymnastics was, she quickly replies, "People who think of gymnastics as being tum.. bling and muscular activity. Actu- ally it's just a challenge to coordi- nate the mind and body perfectly to do whatever you're attempting." Doesn't Require Strength She says, "It doesn't have to be something that takes great strength, but perhaps just balance, flexibility or grace., You've got to think ahead and know what you're going to do before you d it." At present, Miss Osborn is look- ing forward to entering the Olym- pic tryouts in three years. She is working on such things as balance, calisthenics, combinations of dance and tumbling and overall gace. Miss Osborn is planning to at- tend the National AAU meet in Indianapolis, Ind., in the spring.
