Instruction on trampoline, rings, horses (not the real variety) as well as tumbling and some march- ing are included in the apparatus course. Winter Sports During the winter (which -lasts a. long time in Ann Arbor), ice and figure skating instruction is given at the University Coliseum. Coeds are required to furnish their own skates but they are asked not to buy a pair before the first class period if they don't already have their own. Recreational leaderships is an- other class open to University coeds. This course is designed to teach fundamentals as well as to give students experience in the recreational field. The course pro- vides experience required for sum- mer jobs. Students learn essentials of handicraft, campcraft, hobbies, games, music, nature, story tell- ing and first aid. Coeds do "field work" with Scouts, Brownies, Y- Teens, patients at University Hos- pital and other recreational cen- ters around Ann Arbor. Another special feature of the course is the weekend of actual camping experience which is held toward the end of the course. Horses, Dance Instruction in horseback riding is furnished throughout the school year. Transportation is furnished to the stables,,located outside Ann Arbor. Courses in ballet and modern dance where each dancer can ex- press her own' feelings are also offered. Modern Dance Club, Bal- let Club and the Choreographer's Workshop are extra-curricular ac- tivities which supplement these courses. The traditional sports of bad- minton, f baseball, archery and basketball are also open to coeds. Fourteen tennis courts are available for the exclusive use of University women. Beginning, in- termediate and advanced instruc- tion is available in the racket sport. Rules and scoring of the game are considered to be essen- tials of the course. League Holds, Dance Class For Students. By SALLY LEASE Men and Coeds may learn the waltz, fox trot and various Latin rhythms in the League dance classes. Held Tuesday and Wednesday nights, in the fall and spring, classes feature beginners, inter- mediates, and advanced groups taught for eight weeks by a pro- fessional instructor. Gretchen Pendill, Grad., who works with the dance club's or- ganization, urges newcomers to "register right away" since many classes are already well-filled. Miss Pendill adds that classes are "a service to women on campus." The League does not charge the coeds, but the men must pay a small fee. Coeds are advised to come to classes in flat shoes; the men may wear sport coats. The instructor uses a rotation system so that cou- ples dance with different partners and coeds learn to adapt to vari- ous leaders. At the beginining of each semies- ter, the Women's Athletic Associa- tion sponsors the sale of official University blazers. The blazer features a University crest on the pocket, with a plain pocket to be sewn on after leav- ing the University plus choice of colors for jacket piping. Coeds may also order matching or contrasting skirts or bermuda shorts. During the order sessions, per- sonal fittings will be made by rep- resentatives of the Brooks Allen Company, Rochester, New York, 'with no extra charge for such al- terations except sleeve shortening. A $5 deposit is required when ordering the blazer, with the rest to be paid upon recepit of the blaz- er. Sale money helps to pay for play days and other WAA activities.
