For Engineering Awards

Two freshmen in the engineer-
ing college have a chance to re-1
ceive payment for their full tui-
tion this year.
Two s c h o1 ar s h i p s were an-
nounced by Prof. Donald R. Ma-
son, of the engineering college, a
member of the Scholarship Com-
mittee 'of the Department of
Chemical and Metallurgical En-
gineering. They will be awarded
as soon as qualified candidates
are found.
The scholarships have different
qualifications. Both are based on
need and both cearry tuition for
the full freshman year, including
a refund if the money has already
been paid.
However, one of the scholar-
ships is for a Michigan resident,
while the other does not, specify.
Only one of the awards is renew-

able, but Prof. Mason pointed out
that if the student maintains a
3.0 average or better, other schol-
arships are available within the
University.
Applicants should be freshmen
in the engineering college who are
preparing themselves for a career
in either chemical or petroleum
engineering. Ordinarily, this de-
cision is not needed until the
sophomore year, but in this case
it is necessary.
Further qualifications are that
an applicant should have been
graduated in the upper one-third
of his high school class and must
not be the recipient of another
scholarship.
Student who are interested
should contact Prof. Mason in
Rm. 3018 East Engineering Bldg.
