Wins Fight with Ypsil

Eastern Michigan College in
Ypsilanti has won a fight with
that city's authorities to keep
water on- in eight apartment
buildings for married students.
The State Supreme Court ruled
Monday that a contract between
the city and the college is legal
and binding. This contract pro-
vides that the city should pay the
cost of making pipeline connec-
tions into the buildings without
charging a special sewer capital
improvement fee.s
The court had 'issued an order
on August 16 in favor of the State
Board of Education, the college's
governing body. Justice John D.
Voelkerk wrote the court's opinion
presented Monday.
