THE MICHIGAN DAILY / in, 4-2, Even Series c: : miated Press - Lew Burdette, New York Yan- in 1951, squared for Milwaukee, eating his old e second game at the Braves, hit- .500 series aver- e game-winning rth inning. With 2-2, Joe Adcock opened the inn-: With a 2-2 count, Covington dunked a single into short left. that brought Adcock home with the tie-breaking run. When Enos Slaughter threw to third base, trying to get Pafko, the ball got away from rookie Tony Kubek and rolled to the Braves' dugout to let Pafko score. Each team had scored in the second and they traded homers in the third as the score went to 2-2. Johnny Logan's fly ball into the fourth row of the lower stands in left was countered by Hank Bauer's towering drive deep into the left field seats. Aaron drove a long high fly to deep center to start the second inning. Mantle, apparently still bothered by his bad left leg, drifted back slowly. He seemed" to have misjudged the ball and made a final lunge too late. The ball fell in for a triple. It was a tough inning for Man- tle. Adcock, next up, singled to right center, scoring Aaron with the first run. Mantle fumbled the ball momentarily, then threw hurriedly on the shortstop side of second base. Adcock, a slow man who suffered a broken leg in ear- ly summer, lumbered into second safely. The scorers charged Man- tle with an error. After last week's 11-9 record, we feel more like the latter, but our "experts" have studied and restudied their sources and have come up with the choices which you find below. Along with The Daily's junior and senior sports editor's predictions are those of Lynn Evans, this week's guest. He is the senior manager of the football team and undoubtedly has first hand information on one of the games mentioned below. The winner will receive two tickets to the Michigan theater to see "The Pride and The Passion" starring Sophia Loren, Cary Grant and Frank Sinatra which will be featured there the coming week. The Bulldogs of Georgia wi arrive in Ann Arbor at 12:30 p.n today and will spend the after noon getting used to the hug Michigan Stadium where they wi face the Wolverines tomorrow. At a long session yesterday a!. ternoon Coach Bennie Oosterbaa gave the 'M' squad a thoroug workout on all aspects of the game The Wolverines will meet toda for a short session at 4:15 p.m. while the.rBulldogs are schedule to work out in the stadium a 2:30 p.m. Work on Defense In yesterday's practice, most, c the time was spent on' defensiv work. The first three units tool the defensiveragainst the fourtl and fifth strings, who wore Geor gia uniforms and ran Georgi plays. After this there was a short lul probably taken because of th bright sun and the unusuall warm weather. During this tim Mike Shatuskey, Brad Myers an Jim Van Pelt worked on punting This routine was partly aimed a the linemen, who practiced moving down the field with the kick. Practice Place-Kicks Van Pelt, Shatusky, Darrel Har per and Willie Smith worked while on place kicks for extr points, and again the linemen wer given thorough practice on thei blocking assignments. The remainder of the afternoon was used for running througi plays. The first three units line up against fourth team men wh held practice dummies. The three groups ran a mixture of pass play along with numerous runnin plays. Most of the time the team looked very sharp, and there we'r continual yellings of' encourage ment from the onlookers. The en. tire practice was marked by goo spirit, and the fact that there i no one sidelined by injuries point to the team's readiness for Satur day's battle. 1 " ,.
