All-American Lou Michaels will b back to anchor the line, and if the sophomores can come through, Coach Blanton Ct.ller might have a winner on his hands. Other Teams Florida, Vanderbilt, LSU and Georgia all 'could prove tough on' any given Saturday afternoon, but they lack the consistency of the other squads. By BOB ROMANOFF Baseball writers of America be- ware!l The National League is out to make life miserable for them by forcing a decision between at least three exper'-ced stars for the Most Valuable Player Award. The first two of these players are Hank Aaron and Red Schoen- dienst, both of the Milwaukee Braves, and the third, who can't pick up a bat -ithout setting a record is the fabulous "Man" of tb : Cards, Stan '"isial. Aaron whose -nnant winning homer Mo-cday night won't hurt his vot getting, leads. the Major Leagues with 44 home runs and 132 runs-batted-in. He is also hit- ting a lusty .323. Schoendienst, who must be con- sidered a dark horse for the award, is hitting .313. He has 15 home runs and over 60 RBI's, which is phenomenal when you consider the fact that he has been batting in the le d off position. Take-Charge Guy His real worth to the club, how- ever, has been his take charge abilities, which most experts say was the type of man the Braves needed to win the pennant last year. The man most responsible for the near miracle the Cardinals nearly pulled off is Stan Musial. Musial is well on his way to win- ning his seventh batting title. He is now hitting .351. He has also supplied much of the Card power with 30 home runs and 101 RBI's. This is the 13th year that he has hit. for at least 300 total bases which is a record. Me- Top Teams Tennessee, Georgia Tech, Mis- s'--np and Kentucky must all be rated at the top. Certainly a couple of these teams should emerge as national powers. Tennessee, one of the top teams In the ountry last fall, will mgain be fighting for the championship crown, and it rates a good chance of getting it.' Ole Miss Rates lsslsr"- plan- '-e of the lightest schedules in the confer- ence, must rate as having one of the best chances of winning the championship. Only Tennessee offers any real competition, and even a loss against the Vols would not necessarily eliminate Ole Miss. Auburn and Kentucky round out the list of favorites for conference honors.
