7,1958 THE MICHIGAN DAILY MIXER: Graduates Plan Dance Graduate students have planned a weekend to give new students an opportunity to meet each other and old graduates. Beginning with a social hour from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Veteran of Foreign Wars Hall, the event is being sponsored by the Graduate Student Council. ID cards are necessary at this so- cial hour. At 7:30 p.m. Saturday a convo- cation will be held in Rackham Auditorium. The role of the grad- uate student will be discussed. This formal meeting will be fol- lowed by an Open House in the Rackham lounges. Students will have an opportunity to meet fac- ulty members. Following the meeting a grad- uate mixer will be held from 9 p.m. to midnight in the ballroom. Paul McDonough's orchestra will provide music for dancing. McDonough is a graduate of the University Law School. He is now taking additional courses at the University. Ticket Sales Drop to 598 For J-Hop (Continued from Page 1) Commenting on the possibility of dropping J-Hop, Collins said he "couldn't see the same type of affair if it is to succeed." Collins agreed with Champion that rescheduling of the Univer- sity calendar would help J-Hop "considerably." Reorganization of the J-Hop Central Committee is already un- der way. SGC voted last year to remove the election of committee mem- bers from the spring all-campus elections. Various methods of re- placing the election are being dis- cussed and the situation will be resolved within several weeks, ac- cording to Collins. Champion said he prefers to see last year's J-Hop chairman, this year's, two J-Hop central committee members and two members of SGC form an inter- viewing board to review petitions submitted for central committee positions. I I I in the coat neck. When sitting down, always unbutton your coat; this, too; will help preserve its shape. Your clothes budget will stretch further if you're careful not to stretch your suit pockets, just avoid overloading them. The life-length of your suits will also increase if you let them hang a day or two between wearings. Get a "Head Start" For a "head-start" on grooming, always put your hat away on a flat surface rather than on a hook. A soft brush or cloth is the best aid in cleaning your hat and you can keep the hatband from staining by putting Scotch tape inside the sweatband. A simple trick that will make your shirts last longer is to turn the collar down before tying your tie, rather than after. Remove plastic collar stays before having a shirt laundered as extreme heat may fuse them. Shine Those Shoes Like suits, shoes will last longer if you give them a rest between wearings. Don't wait until they're scuffed to polish them, shining new shoes before wearing will help preserve the surface. For space-saving as well as shoe-saving, try stuffing your shoes with socks when you're packing for a trip. The socks will serve the same purpose as shoe trees. When removing your tie, don't be lazy about it; untie the knot instead of slipping it over your head. You'll seldom have to take an iron to your ties if you'll hang them on a rack and let the wrinkles fall out. "The track >\ :temperature that day hit 125* and the exhaust fumes hung right down on the speedway. I was going into the north turn at 130 mph when the fumes got me. I blacked out, hit the outside concrete fence, and skidded along for 120 feet. The car was demolished, my helmet was torn off, my safety belt broke-but I didn't break a single bone !" 69, For YOUR Close Shave-with a razor, not a racing car- try new Colgate Instant Shave.
