SPRING DESIGNS: New Suits Introduced DA.I A CLASS IED ADS By NANCY VERMULLEN BALENCIAGA LOOK ... loose, staright lines Two Schola rsh i ps Guaranteed to "suit" you: This spring's new jacket and skirt ensembles. The French designer Cardin in- troduces a variety of jacket lengths in his suits. The long jacket is slightly curved, and has a slit back, while the short jacket dips in the back and has a more pro- nounced curve. The Deflated Balloon jacket is another creation by Cardin. Mounted on a band, it features elongation and fullness at the hips. Balenciaga Creates Loose Look The Balenciaga look is loose but straight. Semi-fitted suits with three-quarter set-in,. sleeves give width to the houlder line, and jackets and skirts are both shorter. Big news is to be found in the plouses accompanying these suits., They tie ,at normal waistline, and the loops of the bow hang below the suit jacket. Not the same color as the suits, these sheer overblouses either blend or contrast; for example, a white blouse. with tobacco suit. De Givenchy gains importance on the suit scene with his belted jackets. These belts are of self- fabric or kidskin, matching the color of the suit. Wide Shoulders, Short Jackets A look of freedom .characterizes all the fashions of De. Givenchy, being seen in his wide shoulder lines, short Jackets and, gathered skirts, American Rayon Institute, Inc., predicts the popularity of French Rayon blend fabrics for new suits. Nubbly4aced rayon and silk com- binations, and silk tweeds and linens offer a lightweight elegance so rightfor springtime. Color,. too, is offering suit flat- tery. Flower-soft shades of pink and deep-beige tones of tobacco are especially important. Light, bright hues of green, blue and mulberry are also headed for popu- larity. Small, round hats in matching suit fabrics, and larger balloon type with little up-turned brims offer head flattery to the spring suit, while shoes favor the new pump with oblong openings on either side. Procter & Gamble has interesting, openings in its Advertising Depart- ment for college-trained men. New men will be assigned to small mar- keting groups responsible for the ef- fectiveness of all consumer advertis- ing and promotion effort on an important national product. Each man receives careful on-the-job training under experienced market- ing men, and will be advanced in- dividually-as rapidly as his ability permits. The nature of the work is business management rather than creative advertising, and involves working closely with many Com- pany Departments and with our Advertising Agencies. The men we need must have a genuine interest in business, and the desire and ability to assume respon- sibility quickly. They should have the ability, to work closely with many types of 'people, and more than their share of imagination, ag- gressiveness and sound judgment. However, because of our unique training program, experience or col- lege courses in Advertising are not necessary. CRIAT90 SY R.J. REYNOLDS TOBACCO CO.
