'Good Times Had in Lansing I -t NO 8-7942 )X441 Reactions to Thursday's Inter- national Student Day ranged from "a wonderful time" to "not bad . . . interesting." The University contingent num- bered approximately 525 and to- tal participation was estimated to have reached 1500. According to Lansing mayor Ralph Crego, who spoke at lunch, 92 "countries' were represented. Long before the University buses reached Lansing the students were beginning their good time. "Every- one on. my bus is going to sing whether he likes it or not," one International Center staff mem- ber had announced, and sing they did. One of the favorite activities of those present was talking with students from their homelands who are attending other colleges across the state. The program received consid- erable news coverage, with news- reel photographers filming a ques- tion and answer session in which the University's Beverly Pooley, Grad., asked Gov. G. Mennen Wil- liams his opinion on the current recession. A reporter from Life Magazine interviewed - the presi- dent of the University's Interna- tional Student Association, Gunay Aktay, '58E, and covered last - " night's IA African Night at Lane Hall. MASS PRODUCTION-Visiting the Oldsmobile assembly plant proved extremely interesting to many of the international students. In the course of the tours they confused their young guides by stopping at every turn to take photographs.
