Listening to Michigan coach Vic Heyliger talk, one gathers that a good stiff session against top- flight competition is definitely in line for his men. Against Minnesota last weekend at Minneapolis, where the icers lost, 7-3, and won, 4-3, poor shoot- ing told the story, Coach Heyliger believes. 'We Outplayed Them' "We couldn't put the puck in the net," he explained simply. "We outplayed them badly both nights, but we just couldn't score when we had the shots. "The second night we just barely won, although we had 61 shots," he observed. "Of course, penalties killed us in the first game. But we've got to start finding the range, or we're going to whip our- selves," he concluded. Heyliger plans to use a few freshmen against the Red Wings, but stressed the fact that the Blue will, as usual, be going all out to win. But it will take some doing. Hall Won't Play The Wings' regular goalie, Glenn Hall, probably will not play, ac- cording to Heyliger, and they are expected to pool the talents of a netminder from one of their top farm clubs and their assistant trainer, the colorful "Lefty" Wil- son, who annually amuses wit- nesses of the game with his antics in front of the nets. But both will be well protected, since the Wings boast of the best defensive team in the League. They've been scored upon just 112 times in 52 contests. 4 0 Sizes 6 to Widths AA 14 to E 4 Campus M op ?k MICHIGAN BOOKSTORE 619 E. Liberty St. Ph.
