Miss Tannel has played lead roles In past productions succh as "Patience," "Pirates of Penzance,", and "Ruddigore." Princess Ida is the story of a girl who at the age of two is betrothed to young, determined Prince Hil-1 arion. The betrothal is the plan of the two fathers, King Gama and King; Hildebrandt. Gama, the homely,' sarcastic, and cunning king, will be played by Robert Denison, '59M. lildebrandt, the jovial, pompous, and stupid father, will be portray- ed by David Newman, '58. Hates Men1 Since her early betrothal, Ida has turned against all men and locked herself in Castle Adamant. Here the girls learn the villiany of men and few of the pupils are given the opportunity to observe these henious cretures. Hilarion, determined to capture his bride, connives with two of his friends to disquise themselves as girls in order to capture Ida. Cyril, the youngest, and overly exuberent of the two, will be played by John Klein, '60. The gallant lady killer, Florian, will be portrayed by Ger- shom Morningstar, Spec. Stu. Florian's sauve character at-' tracts young Melissa, Sandra Reid, 58M, who has never before seen a man. The innocent girl becomes extremely curious about Florian's "chin that scratches." All Brawn Ida's brothers, Arac, Guron, and Scynthius, come to aid her in her war with Hilarion. However, these "all brawn but no brain" charac- ters actually give her little aid. Guron and Scynthius will be play- ed by Tom Sexworth, Spec. BAd, and John Vavroch, 159M, respec- tively. Warfare begins when Psyche, Florian's sister, played by Sarah Jane Weston, '57M, discovers the disguised men and is made to con- fess to Ida. Ada, Sacharissa, and Chloe, all young, eager and inno- cent, have to learn to take up arms and fight against those horrible creatures, men.
