PAGE TWO THE MCMGAN DAILY rRTDAY, APRIL 19,1"? THE MICHIGAN DAILY FRIDAY. APRIL iL 1~HY : sv+arsaa.f aaa awsav +v} avurar wommom1w ,, International House Plans Postponed Plans for the proposed interna- tional house seem to be stalled, James M. Davis, Director of the International Center, said yester- day. "With the higher echelons of the University busy discussing such things as the budget, you can see the international house plan is expendable," he said. About 1,000 selected American and foreign students would be as- signed to the building as proposed by Davis last October. Students would be housed in apartment and residence hall type of hous- ing. At the time of the proposal, fa- vorable reaction from foreign stu- dents was noted. Because most foreign students live in self-im- posed segregation, the new plan would enable them to live with American students and those of other nationalities and know them in the best possible way. Also mentioned was the Ann Arbor housing situation, in which foreign students are often placed in the most overpriced, unsatis- factory rooms. The new house would alleviate this housing situ- ation. Inoculations Against Polio Hit New High An all-time one-day high for polio * inoculations was reached yesterday as 1050 students re- ceived shots at Health Service. "Three weeks ago we gave 900 shots in one day and previously we had been averaging 700 to 800 on the Thursdays set aside for polio inoculations," Health Serv- ice Director Morley Beckett said. Dr. Beckett said he expects turnouts of "around 1,000" for the remaining Thursdays of the se- mester. Commenting on the results of the flu program Dr. Beckett said relatively few students have tak- en advantage of flu shots. "We haven't had an epidemic yet," he said, "And since it is getting rath- er late to expect one, we probab- ly won't be asked to give many more flu shots."
