Herrnstein, who played center field throughout the seven contests, will remain there, despite his poor showing (.179) at the plate. Two hitters in particular shone North Carolina, 24%j-5%j, and the next day they scared Duke before subsiding, 16-14. Although coaches are not usu- ally pleased after losing, Michigan coach Bert Katzenmeyer has many reasons to be optimistic about this year's link squad. Team Looks Impressive During the week before the two meets the whole team was looking much better than usual for this early in the season. The two Caro- lina opponents have the advantage of playing almost half their sea- son by this time of the year, while this was the first chance for the Wolverines to spend time outdoors. Katzenmeyer states that he was very impressed with the way that the seven Wolverines were hitting WAYNE STATE UNIVERSITY FRENCH STUDY TOUR Comprehensive tour of France in- cluding three-weeks' stay at Uni- versity of Grenoble. The boys had good contact with ball from the first, and are farther along than usual after only one week outdoors." Katzenmeyer was particularly pleased with his first two linksters, John Schubeck and John Law. They accounted for over half the team's points in both meets. Law had par rounds of 72 both days, and is the first Michigan golfer that Katzenmeyer recalls who had been unscored upon in the annual southern matches. From the showing of the team! thus far, Katzenmeyer believes that they should be at least as strong as last year. "We again have good balance," he said, which was our strong point last season."
