Beginning at 3 p.m. on the first day, there will be a parade consisting of derbies, bands and other special attractions. This is the first of several parades sched- uled for the weekend, and it will terminate at the League. Racing between the entering derbies will complete the after- noon activities. Prizes for Winners "Trophies will be awarded to the first, second and third place winners of the parade," com- mented Dick Schwartz, co-chair- man of special events. Parade entrants will be judged on their workmanship, attrac- tiveness, and originality of design. All entries should represent a comic strip or a character in one. This coordination with the theme for the weekend is another im- portant judging point. All entries must follow the spe- cifications set forth by the spe- cial events committee. They must not be larger than four feet by three feet by' three feet. They must be constructed so that a per- Students To Apply For Study Abroad A year of living and learning in Denmark, Norway or Sweden is available to college juniors and young people with a college de- gree or the equivalent of work ex- perience. The program is comprised of three months of orientation and two four-week periods of living with Scandinavian families, fol- lowed by study in one of 30 top "folk schools." Applications must be summitted before the Monday, April 1, dead- line. By SUE RAUNHEIM Women's Judiciary Council will hold its Spring Workshop from 7:15 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 12 in the League. Because of the large size of the bi-annual workshop, and in order to discuss particular problems, Women's Judiciary would like house directors and judiciary chairman to focus special atten- tion on the following areas: Evaluation of the automatic late permission system. Included under this heading would be warn- ing signals prior to midnight clos- ing, extension of the automatic late permission system to include Sunday nights, permission of ex- tensions beyond midnight and policies which should be followed in signing out for an automatic late permission. Rules Booklet Discussion The second subject to be dis- cussed is the Rules Booklet. Under this is included irregular hours, explained on page 2. Next on the agenda will be a discussion of the responsibilities of a judiciary chairman. This would include a knowledge of the+ II I dcn'4 Camnpu I Hillel Casses . . . Two new weekly classes are be- ing offered by Hillel Foundation. "Elements of Judaism" will be discussed at 10:30 a.m. today. "Seminar on Basic Judaism" will be the topic at 8 p.m. tomorrow. Junior Panhel. There will be a Jr. Panhellenic meeting at 4:15 p.m. tomorrow in room 3003 of the Student Activ- ities Building. Un- der this topic a discussion will be held concerning an awareness of common infractions in the Rules Booklet. Awareness of Judic A discussion by representatives from small and large dormitories will be on "an awareness of judi- ciary in the dormitory, special permissions: extensions and over- nights." Another question to be brought up at the workshop will be the possibility of having a separate judicial body with separate by- laws and a constitution. League House representatives will be asked to discuss their atti- tudes and actions towards rules and regulations. Under this head- ing will be included close-up time. The Women's Judiciary Council requests that these questions be given careful consideration and that along with each house direc- tor and judiciary chairman, the president and workshop chairman will come. Deans To Attend Dean of Women. Deborah Ba- con will attend the Spring Work- shop and other deans are also ex- pected. The purpose of the Women's Judiciary Council is to encourage cooperation in the work of Women Students' Government.I It delegates certain disciplinary powers, coordinates and reviews the work of the House Judiciary Councils and the League House Judiciary Council. This year the council incorpor- ated into the present setup, an automatic late permission plan. These coeds also have study com- mittees working on the emergency housing problem. Requirements for students who hare interested in being Judiciary Council members are impartiality, responsibility and leadership. Chairman of Women's Judiciary Council is Betty Jean Kafka, vice- chairman is Barbara Clark and secretary is Joan Wellman. Mem- bers include Louise Ruchman, Alice Louie, Cynthia Cross and Lynn Allie. Criteria for Judging Similar awards will be given to the first, second and third place winners of the race. Manageabil- ity and speed will be the criteria used for judging this event. Immediately following the Skit Night competition on Friday, May 10, the second parade of the weekend will .be held. This will be a torchlight parade to the Diag- onal where campus and outside entertainment will be provided.. Second day activities of the two-day weekend will center around Palmer Field. This is Field Day and will consist of ex- hibitions, competition and enter- tainment. Donkey Baseball The exhibition will be in the form of a donkey baseball game' between members of the faculty and students. Schwartz says that the student players will be chosen in an all-campus election. Housing units will participate against each other in numerous athletic endeavors, and campus and professional entertainment will be presented as part of Field Day activities. All housing units will be com- peting for the grand prizes of the weekend. Special everts is only one facet of the weekend, others being Skit Night, dances and concerts.
