NEW ORLEANS AND JAZZ - Bandleaders Ellington and Morrow had individual "nightclubs" set against a drawn New Orleans scene. Dimly-lit street lanterns were placed along the sides of the room between lounging booths. The theme of the 'S7 J-Hop, "La Rue Basin," concerned American jazz, but the music played was largely for dancing. COULD HAVE DANCED ALL NIGHT ?-Five hours of dancing send couples scurrying for couches and chairs. Many students had to rise early the next morning for registration.
