A Y M ove Or ganizations to New Butilding The dream of a building for all student activities, organized and operated by students, has finally materialized. Forty-seven student groups moved into the airy, modern, $1,140,- 000 Student Activities Bldg., located on the corner of Maynard and E. Jefferson, last weekend. The administrative personnel and secre- taries of the Dean of Women's and Dean of Men's offices moved in last Friday. Besides office space the 115-room structure . contains meeting rooms, with a capacity of from 25 to more than 100 persons, a base- ment workshop with sewing rooms, ditto and mimeograph facilities and a paint spray stall. The workshop will also include planning areas and storage space. The basement, including the worship area, has not yet been finished. After completion, however, these facilities will not be re- stricted to organizations housed in the building. Plans for the building were initiated by student action in 1954, and construction was begun in the summer of '56. All desks, files and other equipment were furnished by the University. Moreover, if the present furniture is inadequate there is a possibility the University Cwill provide additional pieces. Private business lines will be in- stalled in every office. There will be no phones in the secretariet area, although there are public telephones in the basement. ..-X:x"i Application for use of the third Two CHRISTIAN couples needed as supervisors for younger boys.
