THE MICHIGAN DAILY FRIDAY, SEPT MM$. I1, lut, TIlE MICHIGAN DAILY FRIDAY. ~EPTEMA~ ~Z. ThU as T v e. a.aai..a w a d i vvw' r Dean Moore Awaits OK By Regents "If the Board of Regents gives its approval to the final plans for a new music school September 28 then a 60-year-old dream will be- come a reality." Dean Earl Moore, of the Uni- versity's School of Music, made the above statement at the opening meeting for freshman and trans- fer students. lished its first Announcement in 1888. Dean Moore said, "The Music School is spread out under 13 roofs, and cannot possibly coor- dinate its activities, or provide adequate facilities for the 540 stu- dents presently enrolled." Because of the limitations of space and equipment, no applied music can be given to students outside the Music School, nor can any practice studios be made available. Dean Moore added: "Should the final plans be approved by the Regents, and necessary appropria- tions made by the legislature, the Music School Class of 1960 could graduate from the new School of Music on North Campus and pres- ent facilities would be opened to the entire University."
