The walls, floor and ceiling are faced with - wedges of matted glass fibers. which absorb over 99 per cent of incident sound. U measurement, and investigation of characteristics of s o u n d sources.n Reverberation Chamber Dr. Cook pointed to the fact that the Bureau was not -alone in this type of research and con- struction. The bureau also operates a re- verberation chamber, the sound properties of which are just, op- posite to those of the deadroom. In this chamber, some loud sounds of, certain frequencies have rever- berated for 14 seconds. Panels Rotated This room is faced with con- crete, and includes a large tilted panel in the center. The panel rotates, and has two loudspeakers mounted on. either side of the axis. During the tests, which are re- motely controlled (the presence of even one person in the room introduces extraneous sounds), the panels are rotated to scatter the sound. Another possible use for the room is the testing of commer- cial-brands of soundproofing ma- terial. By placing a specimen of the material to be tested into the room and introducing a sound,. the amount of sound absorption may be measured -by the strength of- the echoes in the room. At this writing only three performances remain and all who enjoy a fast- paced, brilliantly directed and tremendously funny production. are urged to attend. In the past, DAC's talents have shone particularly bright in comedies and "Topaze" approaches their zenith.
