W With this slogan a group of married women students and wives of students and interns joined in 1921 to form the Mich- igan Dames. Remarking on the Dames, Mrs. Mary Sussman, president, said, "This is a wonderful way to meet a friend, which is very important to a wife of any student. It pro- vides a social and educational in- terest for her while her husband is busy with studies in the even- ing." 'U' Groups To Combine For Caroling Christmas will come to the University campus a few days early for some students when the Union hokcfs its annual Union- League party at 7:15 p.m. Wed- y$ nesday, in the Terrace Room of the Union. This party is for executive , councils, ,committee chairmen, members of committees, and both League and Union tryouts. All students who work at either the League or Union are invited to this affair. Membership entitles a Dame to attend regular monthly meetings and to participate in any of the group sponsored ac- tivities. Among the activities are clubs for those interested in art, books, bridge, child study, cooking, dance, drama, glamour, handicraft, in- terior decorating. swimming and world afairs. Serving as sponsors of the var- ious activities of the Dames is an{ advisory board consisting of Uni-' versity faculty members wives. Permanent members of this board are Mrs. Harlan Hatcher, Mrs. Alexander Ruthven, Dr. Margaret Bell and Miss Ethel McCormick. Michidames Gazette Keeping those interested in journalism busy is the "Michi- dames Gazette." This monthly newspaper which offers free ad- vertising, reports all the news con- cerning the organization's activi- ties, including members' new ba- bies. Highlighting this year's social calendar was a tea given by Mrs. ' Harlan Hatcher at which the new "Dames" met each other. The organization also held an inform- al Christmas dance at the Wo- men's Athletic Building for their husbands. Other social events remaining on their calendar include a style show on March 12 in the Union Ballroom.
