IF Ii heJtot~ Cook, Lloyd, 3 Quadrangles To Present SmiFrml Themes From 'Winter Wonderland' to Dickens' Will Set Christmas Background for Balls With holiday spirit running *high this last weekend before va- c ation, men's and ,coed's resi- dence halls will be holdnig an- nual and traditional Christmas semi-formals, from 8 p.m.. to mid- night tonight, and 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. tomo~rrow. Ma rtha Cook.. An old-fashioned Christmas scene, as immortalized by Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol", will surround couples attending Mar- tha Cook's Yuletide Ball tonight. Carol Kenney and her combo are entertaining at Cook's biggest annual dance. Large portraits of characters from "A Christmas Carol". in- cluding 'Tiny Tim, Bob Cratchit, Fezziwigs, Marley's ghost and Scrooge will decorate the dance '- hail. Couples will dance around a Christmas tree centered on the floor. Greens and "stained glass" windows will give an "Old Eng- lish" touch to the setting. Alice Lloyd... Alice Lloyd Hall will' hold its annual Winter Lace Formal from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. tomorrow night. Co-chairmen Barbara Greene and Mary Smith have chosen "Snow Flurries" for this year's theme. Paul Brodile's band will be fea- tured in the main lounge which will take on the atmosphere of a "Winter Wonderland."r Refreshments and dancing will be held in the other lounges which will also be decorated for the oc- casion. * East Quad . A New England towxn square, dressed for winter comes West for East Quadrangle's semi-formal, "Snowflake Ball" to be held to- morrow eveningY Indirect biue andwht light- ing will give the out-dioor scene the "authentic look", da nce chair- men hope. The traditional dance will fea- ture the music of Bill Heinline's orchestra in the main dining room. Another dining room has been set aside as a "night club", to give footsore couples a change of scene and a chance to relax. Christened "Club Holiday", it willk be decorated with ornaments ap- propriate to the festive season.
