B, Angell Hall. Mrs. Sorensen's talk, which will be concerned with writing for children; will be presented under the auspices of the library science department and the education ti! ' a ,: "" " school. Under the auspices of the Ann Arbor Public Library, she will also give a book talk entitled "World on a Raft" to children in the sixth grades of Angell, Burns Park, Perry, Jones and the University Elementary School at 10 a.m. Fri- day in the Schorling Auditorium of the University School. She recently returned from a lec- ture tour of the university cam- puses in Arizona and Washington. She has also visited Mexico and Denmark on two Guggenheim Fel- lowships. She plans to include talks at the book fairs in Midland and Flint on her Michigan itinerary. Her first novel, "A Little Lower than the Angels," was published Orientation Guides Experienced male orientation lpaders are needed for the spring semester orientation program, be- ginning Feb. 1, 1957. Those interested are requested to sign up in the student offices of the Union, open between the hours of 3 and 5 daily. A mass meeting of all volunteers will be held before the end of the semes- ter. in 1942. Material for this and la- ter novels, including "The Even- ing and the Morning," and "Many Heavens," was drawn from her own Mormon background which dates back to 1846 when two of her great-grandfathers went to Utah in covered wagons with Brigham Young. While Mrs. Sorensen was living in Alabama she saw and traveled with the bookmobiles that in- spired her first children's book, "Curious Missie," which was pub- lished in 1953. The Sorensens later moved to Pennsylvania, where Mrs. Soren- sen gathered material from the Amish or Plain people for her second book, "Plain Girl" which appeared in 1955.
