TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 27,1958 THE MICHIGAN DAILY PAGE FIFE TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 27, 195w THE MICHIGAN DAILY PAGE FIVE 'MUSKET' PRODUCTION: Students Will Star in 'Brigadoon' Senior Night Tournaments, Skating Post Petitions. WAA Pn By NANCY STAMM Actors and producers in the MUSKET presentation of Briga- doon have been energetically re- hearsing. As one member put it, "The success of our show depends upon our performance." Cast in a lead role of Briga- doon, Fiona, is Miss Pat Wright. Miss Wright, a senior in the School of Music, has performed in Gilbert and Sullivan, Frosh Week- end, Soph Scandals and Junior Girls' Play. Although her main activity for the semester is Brigadoon, she also finds time to listen to the scores from Broadway shows and to read English literature, especi- ally Shakespeare. Miss Wright feels that the music from Briga- doon is "just out of this world." Herb Start who plays the male lead, Tommy, shares an enthusi- asm for Brigadoon with Miss Wright. Having majored in voice at Calvin College, Start is here as a graduate student in education. His future plans include teaching singing. While at the University Start has performed in Gilbert and Sul- livan and Michigan, Singers. Miss Wright and Start blend their voices to "Almost Like Being in Love," "The Heather on the* Hill" and "From This Day On." Fate is responsible for Tom Sex- worth getting a part in Brigadoon. A few days later Sexworth was informed that he was to play the non- singing male lead in Brigadoon. Brigadoon is Sexworth's first big acting part. He has previously participated in two fraternity skits. A member of the faculty, Prof Haugh, is advising the actors Prof. Haugh, a voice instructor in the School of Music, assisted the tryout chairman from a singer's point of view when selecting the cast for this year's show. "I think its a top-flight show and I thoroughly enjoyed the movie," commented Prof. Haugh "The music carries the plot; it is woven in tightly with the script.' The Prof. favors the idea of a coed show as opposed to the now~ extinct Union Opera, which was essentially an all-male farce. "The show will tighten up. There wil be a stricter discipline imposed The students will do a better job and most important, there will be better voices at all points," he said. i Ml In FREE GIFT WRAPPING SERVICE Still time to register for 25 GIFT ITEMS to be drawn at our GRAND OPENING FROM DETROIT COMES ...
