Like. Cinema Guild and the Orpheum (only much more so), the Gothic society shows films -of unique interest - foreign pictures that may have won film festival prizes and occasionally a Holly- wood movie-of special interest. Admission is by membership only, and the membership is usually a mixed faculty-student gro.up. All showings are on Mon- day nights in the Rackham Am- phitheatre. Some of the highlights of this year's programs include the Mexi- can production "Los Olvidados," winner of the Cannes Film Festival Grand Prize for Direction. The "Liberation of Paris," a French underground documentary, and a newsreel of the assassination of King Alexander of Yugoslavia are also included in this season's series. Other films are internationally known French, German and Swed- ish movies as well as a 1933 Marx Brothers film, "Duck Soup." Gothic Film Society also dis- tributes to its members, at each of the showings, interpretive and his- torical notes covering the work being screened. Price ,of membership is $5 for the year - permitting attendance at 10 programs throughout the year, all at 8 p.m. Monday eve- nings. Members also take part in cvhoosing the films for the follow- ing year. Symposium Date Set Links between the functioning of key human glands and nutrition will be probed by some of the nation's leading scientists at a Symposium on Endocrines and Nutrition to be held at the Uni- versity tomorrow and Friday. Sponsored by the medical school in conjunction with the National Vitamin Foundation, a non-profit medical research organization, the symposium will hear and discuss reports on latest research into the mysteries of the endocrine system. 379 OLD VOLUMES: Fifteenth Century Books On Display at Library We Are Headquarters for the Original Genuine An exhibition, "Incunabula Books Printed in the 15th Century" is currently on display in the main corridor of the General Library. According to Mrs. Elizabeth N. Von Voigtlander, assistant curator of rare books, "Although there is no important difference between a book printed in 1499 and one dated in 1501, the changes in type and format, as well as publishing practices, which were appearing about this time make the end of the century a logical breaking-off point." She explains that about 38,000 books are now known to have been printed during this period. Of these the University General Li- brary owns 388 titles in 379 vol- umes. Most of them are housed in the Rare Book Room, but 78 volumes, which are part of the medical rare book collection, are now in the Rare Book Room of the Kreske Medical Library.
