Men from East and West Shaw L Independents Will Present Annual I-Hop Assembly will present "College Kick-Off" from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday in the League. In keeping with the theme of this annual I-Hop, decorations will feature a football motif. Up- on entering the ballroom, couples will view a big block UM at one end and a similar UCLA at the other. Nine paper football players will adorn the whole second floor of the League, according to deco- rations chairman Elsie Scherer. Paul Brodie's band will provide the intermission entertainment as well as the music for dancing in the ballroom. Couples may dance to the music of Don Kenney's band in the Hus- sey room. Weary couples will find relaxation in the other rooms on the second floor. Appropriate attire for women will be semi-formal or cocktail while the men may wear dark suits. It has been requested that there be no corsages. Tickets to the I-Hop will be on sale today and tomorrow on the Diagonal, at the Administration Building and the League Under- graduate- Office. They may also be secured at the door the night of the. dance. Central committee members re- sponsible for planning the affair include Marge Brake, general chairman; Ann Cozell who is handling the tickets and Joanne Preston, chairman of the programs and patrons committee.* Publicity for the dance has been handled by Barb Holmberg while Dorothy Uren has had charge of the finance and orchestra com- mittee.' I-Hop is traditionally the first big Assembly sponsored social eveigt of the year. halls, Michigan State dorms, have been invited to attend the mixer sponsored by Cooley House in East Quadrangle. To further good rela- tions, coeds from several women's houses on campus have also been invited. Their houses include Angell, Hinsdale in Alice Lloyd, Klein- stueck, Palmer, Martha Cook, Prescott, Stockwell, Tyler and Vic- tor Vaughn, The idea for a dormitory inter- collegiate:: mixer originated with C. Gus Gianikaris, Assistant Resi- dent Advisor of Cooley House. The plans were carried out by Cooley's social chairman, Keith Oppenneer, who visited the president of Michi- gan State University Inter-resi- dential council last weekend and presented the idea of him. Coeds, Men Pledge Attendance Shaw Hall was selected to repre- sent Michigan State because it is one of the smallest units on cam- pus and can safely promise 150 men. Social chairmen of each of the women's houses mentioned promise 'that a certain number of coeds will attend the event along with 150 men from Cooley House. Square dancing will be called by the square dance caller from Lane Hall in one of the south dining rooms. In the other south dining room will be dancing to records. General mixing and, refreshments will be found in the lounges. The mixer is open only to those houses invited.
