It was published by the Indiana University Press. "I studied Lawrence's writings as prophetic works of art," Spil- ka says. Moral View "He gave a new moral view of love and marriage; he was a man with a message and an interest- ing private life." Spilka has just received his mas- ter's degree in literary criticism from Indiana University. This was the first degree of its kind offered by. the University. "The Love Ethic of D. H. Law- rence" was developed, from Spil- ka's master's dissertation, which came as a result of his studies with philosophical-anthropologist Dav- id Bidney and visiting critics, Francis Fergusson and Leslie Fiedler. A native of Cleveland, Spilka graduated magna cum laude from Brown University in 1949. There, he was a member of Phi Beta Kap- pa and vice-president of his class. Chicago House, Women Face Exodus Soon By JIM BOW Next semester Chicago House is changing tenants again.. It will take place when 120 wom- en make their expected exodus from the West Quadrangle dor- mitory to the new Couzens Hall on the Hill. Womanless Quad The move will leave West Quad- rangle womanless, but will pro- vide additional dormitory space for men. Already some fifty men have signed up for rooms in Chicago House. They are expected to pro- vide a nucleus for the dorm next semester. The other new residents of Chi- cago House will be first semester_ freshmen and transfer students. A council has been elected to set up a house government and unify the house in activities and organi- zations. Committees are working on drawing up a constitution and organizing the events for orienta- tion week. A house newspaper and an aca- demic file are among the facili- ties being organized.
