Weather Cancels Last Night's Tilt Bad weather has reduced the Michigan-McGill weekend hockey series to only one game-to be f played tonight at the Coliseum at 8 p.m., The McGill team was originally scheduled to be here last night, but their plane was grounded yes- terday afternoon in Toronto. After notifying Michigan Coach Vic Heyliger, McGill made plans to travel by train and arrive here at noon today," in plenty of time for tonight's contest. Since the game is a non-Western League one, no attempt will be made for rescheduling. Ticket Manager Don Weir an- nounced that students who bought tickets for last hight's game can either get a refund or save them for the first game-only-of the Denver University series on Tues- day, Dec. 13. The program is divided in two parts, with the' qualifying events scheduled for 2:30, and the finals along with a swimming variety show at 8:30. Returning from last year's squad will be two of the outstanding swimmers in the nation, Jack and Bert Wardrop. Jack made national headlines last season when he bested Ohio State star Ford Konno, and set the world's record in the 400-yard individual medley. Bert, one of the most versatile performers on the varsity, is the choice to cop the 200-yard indi- vidual medley, although he may receive stiff competition from freshman Darrell Heinrich. U.S. Olympic Hockey Official Plians for Game With Michigan freshmen, and rated as tremend- ous prospects, will vie for the hon- ors against co-captain John O'Reilly, Harrison Wehner and Fritz Meyers, ally lettermen. Jim Thurlow, one of the top swimmers on last year's squad will be paired against another top freshman, Dick Alsobrook, in the 100-yard breaststroke. Thurlow, along with Myers and co-captain Mike Delaney will race in the 100-yard butterfly. The "show" part of the program owwill include such events as water ballet, comedy swimming, and fan- cy and comedy diving. The Michi- Hockey fans keep the date-Jan. 11, 1956-in mind. At a press and radio luncheon in Detroit yesterday, plans for the big game on this date between Michigan and the U.S. Olympic team were announced. The Olympia in Detroit will be the scene for the classic struggle between what conceivedly could be the two "best" amateur hockey teams in the country today.
