For the first time in Coach Bill Perigo's tenure as coach the freshmen came out on top, out- playing the varsity all the way. The first year men led 34-25 at the half, and wound up the game on the winning end of the 70-61 final score. All Smiles "They looked very good out there tonight," he said. "They were certainly outshooting us (the varsity), however this was the hot- test I've seen the freshmen and my boys just weren't hitting the basket." This was certainly the big fac- tor in the outcome of the gamy, as two freshmen, George Lee, 6'3" and M. C. Burton, 6'5", put on a two man scoring splurge, hardly Final Hop (AP) -Howard "Hopalong" Casady ended his collegiate ca- reer at Ohio State in a blaze of headlines"Saturday to earn As- sociated Press recognition as Back of the Week." ever missing the basket. Burton was high man for either side with 21 points. Lee had 18. The varsity was "just off" ac- cording to° Perigo. He laid the blame for their poor shooting on a rather strenu~ous practice that af ternoon. Stars Not On Neither Tom Jorgensen nor Jim Barron could hit the basket with 'their usual accurateness. Barron 's heavily taped knee, which he fav- ors a little, looked as if it were giving him a little trouble, but both he and Perigo insist that it hasn't been bothering his shoot- ing any. Jerry Stern, who has a half year 'ds. Ave. of eligibility left, and who Perigo is considering for the back line position with Ron Kramer and Pete Tillotson, threw in 12 points which was high for the varsity.' Tillotson had 10 points, and Kramer, on the basketball court for the first time this season, col- lected 10 points. 176 41 602 463 365 266 24 9 946 SCORING G Kramer, e .......... ..................... 7 Barr, Jb ..................................9 Baldacci, fb ............................... 9 Branoff, b ................................ 9 Maentz, e................................... 7 Pace, Jib... ............................... 8 Maddock, qb ........................9 Hill, lb...................................... 8 Rotunno, e .................................. 9 Shannon, Jb-fb...........................7 Johnson, lb............................ 6 V an Pelt, qb............................... 9 Team ........................... ........ 9 9 OPPONENTS ............. ................9 TD 4 5 4 3 3 2 1 I 1 I 1 26 13 9 ATi ' 16 3 2 5 26 13 12 - 3 " - 2. 40 21 0 7 1 1 3 44.0 41.0 40.1 38.6 36.5 33.3 24.0 9.0 37.4 Pts. 36 30 24 21 18 12 8 6 6 6 6 4 2 179 94 It's Time to Stmrt Thinking of5 CHRISTMAS with GIFTS from Staeb & Huss5 STo help the shopper, may we suggest, Neckwear .Jewelry Shirts Hosiery ja masPoktos Sport Shirts ,, ,Handkerchiefs Robes Warm Jackets ~ Sweaters Betts-Suspenders 5 ScarfsRaincoats Gloves Sport Coats - Suits Hats Topcoats S ALL GIFTS AP'PROPRIlATELY BOXEDS This Xmas, more than ever, the 'wisest of "Santas" wvill give things to wear.
