Panihellenic Reveals Plans For This Year s Panhel Ball The new women's housing unit and rushing procedures wer dis- cussed at the Assembly Dorm Council meeting held Monday at the League. A newly formed rushing com- mittee consisting of members of Assembly, Panhellenic, IFC and IHC met last Saturday to discuss the problems involved in the pres- eht rushing system and probable solutions to these problems. SThe committee will set up a schedule involving different rush- ing issues and how much time will be alloted to each one. Among the problems discussed were the rush- ing parties, system of drops, the interference of rushing with the student's academic work and the psychological effect of rushing on freshmen. Questionnaires Questinarscnernngrush students. Among the topics In- cluded in this form are the effect of rushing on dormitory living, and the participation of pledges in dormitory affairs. Also discussed at the Assembly meeting was the new women's resi- denha husng 100 tuens Heights. An architect has been hiredt an lasa re eng dra n In connection with the building of the proposed dorm, the question of coed versus non coed living was brought up. It was decided by a committee that at this time a Swimming Club To Beg in Tryouts For Membership Ann Arbor women may now compete in organized swimming meets through the Ann Arbor Girls Swimming Club, according to Ella Rosted, manager of the new group. The swimming club is coached by Mrs. Rose Mary Dawson, daughter of Matt Mann, former University of Michigan swimming coach. The club is organized to give local women a chance at com- petitive swimming and diving. Meetings are held from 5 to 6 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at the Tappan Junior High School pool. Tryouts will begin today. Women of all ages are urged to attend. n h e w nter season w im ig womens dorm would serve the campus better than a coed unit. Reason for this decision were concerned primarily with the dif- ference in cost between a womens dorm and a coed dorm. Another important .consideration was the matter of which type of dormitory would serve the most students. The question of keeping Prescott and Tyler as women's dorms as they are now was also brought up. However, it was decided that if the women have a new dorm along with Prescott and Tyler Houses the men would suffer in their housing facilities. Therefore Pres- cott and Tyler are being changed back to men's dorms. Concerning the Homecoming display award, it was decided that the judging of dorm displays will take place between 10 and 11:30 a.m. Saturday. The award will be presented at the Homecoming Dance to a representative of the winning house. Left open for discussion was the question of dorm stores and the problem of their being profitable or non-profitable was considered. eWOMEN'S SENATE-There will 4 p.m. today in the League. * * * BURO-CATS - There will be meetings of the Buro-Cats' art and activities committees at 4 p .m. and 5 p.m. respectively today in the League. . . .* A TH LE TIC MA N AG E RS - House Athletic Managers will meet at 5:10 p.m. today in the WAB. * * * SOPH SCANDALS-There will be a Soph Scandals props commit- tee meeting at 5 p.m. today, and a refreshment committee meeting at 7:30 p.m. COEDS: for that fresh fall look f or fashionable hairstyling come to The Dascola Barbers near Michigan Theatre TWE ED and SH ET LAND SKIRT By BERNHARD ALTMANN Made Osell for $12.95 and $14.95 This year's Panhel Ball will be presented Zriday, 1'ov. 11, in the League Ballroom by Panhellenic Association. las year's "Candyland"'rces gen- eral chairman Martha Stockard of Kap~pa Alpha Theta and her com- mittee.
