In the other big game of the night, Pi Lambda Phi literally smothered Sigma Alpha Mu, 50-28. Leading the scoring in this tradi- tional rivalry was Leon Greenblatt with 20 points. Pi Lamb's Bill Pittler and Ivan Goldberg also scored in the double figures with 10 points each.. The Sammies tied the game early in the first half, but three quick field goals by Greenblatt put Pi Lamb ahead to stay. Big Upset The biggest upset of the night appeared in the second place play- offs, when Delta Upsilon nipped Sigma Phi Epsilon, 41-39. The Sig Eps were favored in this game, but led by Jim Meyers 19 points, DU held off the Sig Eps late rally. In other games, Lambda Chi Alpha defeated Theta X 30-21. The Buckeyes rate as the power of the Big Ten again this season, and off the season's record, it will take a tremendous effort on the Wolverine's part to upset them. Have Potential Despite the loss of the Wardrop twins via suspension, the Maize and Blue still must be rated as a team with enough potential to cause Ohio State a lot of trouble, and with a little luck, might even upset them. Michigan's diving which had been rated pre-season as one of its biggest weakness, has turned out to be one of the stronger points. With Charlie Bates, John Mur- phy and John Nancy, the Wolver- ines have three of the better div- ers in the conference. Bates was undefeated in conference compe- tition until last weekend in the Indiana meet when Murphy beat him If Ohio State does not improve on their times in the recent North- western meet, Michigan stands an even better chance of upsetting them. The Buckeyes won, but definitely did not appear to be unbeatable on their times of that meet. The loss of the Wardrops, al- -though a serious blow to the team, is not fatal. The team still has many other outstanding perform- ers, who will be threats both in the Ohio State and the Conference meets.
