T"lE MECMIGAN DAILY WEDNESDAY, Mill Theatre Holds Drama The Saline Mill Theatre held its annual Teen-Age Weekend for high school drama hopefuls last weekend- Three Detroit-area schools were represented at Saline, along with students and teachers from Denby, Ecorse and Mumford high schools. Lectures on stage lighting and the history of the Theatre were scheduled 'and studenits auditioned for apprentice posts by reading parts onstage. Producer Barbara Hamel, found- er of the Theatre, is directing the Weekend, which is the initial highlight of the Theatre's upcom- ing fourth season. Peggy Booth of Detroit will assist Miss Hamel this summer as director of apprentices. During the summer, successful tigh school performers from the Weekend will work as a..prentices In the Theatre. Six Thousand Students' Expected To Register (Continued from Page 1) 1 rules. We never thought to ques- tion It." Just where the officers will get authority to stop cars has not yet been determined. Although Swoverland, a special deputy, and preceeding Campus Security Officers have never had this power, "it will be obtained through the necessary channels," Assistant Dean of Men Karl D. Streiff assured. Rea Comments "We will have to have this ad- ditional authority if the new regu- lation is to be enforced," Dean of Men Walter B. Rea commented. There has been speculation that if the University fails to obtain approval to stop cars from local law enforcement agencies, the ad- ministration will request the Re- gents to legislate necessary pro- visions. Streiff estimated 6,000 students will register for permits next fall, an increase of 1,700 over this year. Registration Figures The 6,000 figure is based on the survey taken during registration last fall asking students if they would operate an automobile if the age limit was lowered from 26 to 21 years of age. Over 5,400 students said they would drive a car all the time while 7,300 said they would drive either all the time or occasionally. Arrangements for more parking facilities and plans for imple- mentation of the new enforcement program will be made over the summer, Streiff said. Books Donated To Library. As Memorial Over 200 books have contributed to the Kresge Medical Library by Professor Carlton F. Wells, of the English Department, as a memo- rial to his daughter, Dr. Martha Wells Usher, '54M. Mrs. Usher died October 12, 1955, as the result of a fall from a flight of stairs during her internship at Children's Hospital in Philadel- phia. She was graduated from McGill University and graduated first in her class of 153 at the medical school of the University of Michib- gan. Called the Martha Wells Ush- er Memorial Collection, the books represent a non-medical collection including modern fiction and non- fiction. According to David A. Kronick, Chief Divisional Librarian of the Kresge Medical Library, the books will provide reading for the staff and students "who, busy as they are, don't otherwise become ex- posed to such literature."
