Bordine, along with Donald Cur- rie, director of placement at Mi- chigan State Normal College, spokeF on "Followup Programs, Objec- tives, Designs, and Results," yes- terday at the 26th annual Con-a ference on Teacher Education in the Rackham Building. "These first-year teachers," Bor- dine said, "advocate more practice teaching under more realistic con- ditions." He asserted the followup pro- grams are intended to give college instructors an opportunity to see how former graduates are faring and to help them with their prob- lems. Good Relations "The results of these followup programs have procured good re- lations with teachers of different school systems and also have kept them alert," Bordine stated. Difficulty is securing the prop- er faculty member to interview these teachers is one of the main problems encountered in the pro- gram, said Bordine. John Osborn, a representative from the College, said that he had to get most of his information from the administrators of differ- ent school systems than from the teachers who would talk to only those they knew well. Other difficulties Bordine men- tioned entailed making objective evaluations and interpreting the findings.
