Astounded Spartans Buy
300 Garg' Anthologies

The Gargoyle Business Staff re-
ports it made a surprise ,trip to
East Lansing Friday and sold 300
magazines to "astounded" Michi-
gan State students.
The trip came as a sort of retri-'
bution to the staff of the MSU
humor magazine, "The Spartan."
Last semester four State stu-
dents sold 130 copies of that mag-
azine on the Michigan campus to
"bewildered Ann Arbor students
who couldn't quite realize what
their industrious neighbors to the
North were doing," the Michigan'
State News declared.
Air Travel Upped
By Student Fares
College and university students;
In the United States helped in-
crease the nation's sky traffic last
year.
An estimated nine per cent of
America's airplane passenger traf-
fic was composed of students, a
major airlines disclosed today.
The nation's largest independ-
ent airline reported that last year
more students than ever used
low-fare air coach for travel be-
tween campus and home.
Thousands more have inquired
concerning plans of the majorair-
lines to extend low cost fare to
plane travel abroad.
'Ensian Tryouts
The Michiganensian hBusiness
Staff is interested in, obtaining a
new group of tryouts for the sec-
ond semester.
Experience in promotion, prin-
ciples of advertising, office man-
agement, and sales techniques are
offered by the 'Ensian.
Freshien and sophomores may
inquire on the second floor of the
Student Publications Building on
Wednesday or Thursday between
3 and 5 p.m. about the general
tryout program.

Coming in at lunch hours, "we
caught them between classes," a
Garg staffman explained. "Then
we racked up.
"In about two minutes the place
was covered with Gargoyle sales-
men . . . We blanketed the area
around the Union."
Staffman Gordon Black said
some of the students thought they
were fraternity pledges on a stunt.
"The high water mark" of the
trip came, according toyBlack,
when they sold a Gargoyle to a
Spartan staff member. "We plant-
ed a flag in the Spartan office."
But more seriously, he remarked
in the office, "they were very
polite to us." Everyone on campus
there was "very friendly," he
added.
Many of the State customers
claimed "they were teed off at the
Spartan."
The five man delegation sold the
current 5 year Anthology Issue of
the Gargoyle there.
A Garg salesman commented, "I
bet 240 people asked us what the
word 'Anthology' meant. No kid-
ding!"
