FASHION BORROWED from designers and traditional dress in foreign
lands has become as important a part of American habit as imported
film actresses.
FIRST IN 55's FASHION ALPHABET is Dior's "A line" from Paris.
The little sleeved, close bodiced coat, widens towards the bottom and
forms a cone with the pleated or flared dress it covers.
FROM HONG KONG, a newcomer in the style world, comes design
well oriented in Western ways, but still retaining its Eastern flavor,
The kirnona dress is a sheath with smooth line and comfortable fit.
For lounging, the Orient offers a coolie costume consisting of a loose
jacket and tapered trousers. The fabric, of course, is silk.
LONDON, home of 'go everywhere" tweeds, and precision tailoring,
contributes a slim striped suit with a sailor collar.
