al Youth Games in Warsaw from
August 1 through August 13. An
estimated 100,000 men and wom-
en from all over the world are ex-
pected to compete. Almost every
event imaginable can be found on
the program. A partial list in-
cludes major events in track,
swimming, and volleyball, tennis,
table tennis, boxing, s o c c e r,
weightlifting, water polo, field
hockey f or men, archery and fenc-
ing for both men and women.
Norway with its late season ski
race at Stigfjelleton on June 20
and Finland will both be active
this summer. Helsinki, site of the
1952 Olympic Games, has sched-
uled Association football in June
and August and the World Ar-
chery Championships, July 18-23.
Trotters will be digging up the
tracks in championships at Lap-
peenranta. The colorful three-day
yachting regatta is a main late-
July attraction at Turku. The
popular Lumberjacks' tournament
with log rolling and other rug-
ged events will be held at Rovan-
iemi on June 24.
MAY 20 marks the start of the
American-British Walker Cup
golf matches at St. Andrews.
Yachting regattas are also sched-
uled for July, along with the Brit-
ish Open golf championship. The
Scottish Amateur is another July
feature on the greens of Gullana
near Edinburgh.
The Isle of Man will provide
exciting and dangerous motorcycle
races for the tourist on June 6, 8,
and 10 and on Sept. 6 and 8, while
Ireland has an almost endless list
of spring golf matches. Horse rac-
ing and shows from Aug. 2 to 6 in
Dublin are some of Europe's most
handsome sporting events.
Ireland's greatest display and
competition between thorough-
breds has a five day stand, and
Aug. 6 is the date of the 1500 Gui-
neas Horse Race at Phoenix Park
in Dublin.
