IPAGE EIGHT 0 THE MICHIGAN DAILY FRIDAY, MARCH 11, 1955 'LIFE IN THESE UNITED STATES': Spring Weekend: Fun on the Campus } From the time the. first skit goes on in Hill Auditorium, until the last person leaves the splash party at the women's swimming pool, Spring Weekend festivities will highlight this weekend's acti- vities on campus. Sponsored by the Woman's Athletic Association and the Union, Spring Weekend is featuring Skit Night at 8 pm. today and the Wolverun Derby and the splash party tomorrow. A poster contest was one of the pre-weekend events. Theme of the weekend is "Life in These United States." This theme is being carried out in both skit night and the derby.. Symbol of the various events is a cherry robin who has appeared throughout the campus on numerous posters, banners and fliers. Houses entering Skit Night competition include Alpha Delta Pi and Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Alpha Gamma Delta and .Theta Xi, Chicago House and Adams House, Sigma Phi Epsilon and Alpha Phi, and Hobbs House and Phi Gamma Delta. This group was chosen from nineteen houses who entered scen- arios. -They will compete fot trophies to be awarded to the winner and the house receiving honorable mention. Detroit disc jockey, Robin Seymour, will be master of cere- monies for Skit Night. Between the acts, the "Psurfs," Ann Arbor Alley Cats, and Prof. Harold Haugh of the iusic school will enter- tain. Poster contest winners are to be announced at Skit Night. The posters have been on display around the Diag during the week pre- ceding the events. Tomorrow's activities start off with a parade from the Diag to E. Washington where the derby will be held. The derbies will line up at 12:30 p.m. for the par- ade led by the Phi Gamma Delta and Taylor House bands. Twenty-eight soap box cars are akrunning in heats and the car with the fastest time will be awarded a trophy. A trophy. will also be offered to the most original car. Following the derby a splash party is being held at the new women's swimming pool with Jun- ior Michifish and members of the Michigan swimming team giving N 4 exhibitions. After the splash party students can attend the Paul Bunyon dance to complete the weekend. 'Old clothes will be the order of the . .w evening. Tickets may still be obtained at the Administration Building for SX~$$1.25, $1.00 and 75 cents.
