Palmer Field, an all-girl all star football team smashed Michigan's mighty varsity 28-0 yesterday in one of history's great upsets. The broads of Dr. Margie Bong, who last week challenged Binnie Boosterbum's varsity to the game, were so good that the 103,000 roaring fans that hung out of the4 windows of the women's dorms lost control and fell out. A Fated Day It was a fated day from the start. Taking a Rum Crammer punt on her own two yard line,# Stangel' Hall's Nan "Forever" Am- berson swept to the fifty before being stepped on by All-Americanz tackle Smart Balker. Miss Am- berson was scraped off the field; and the remains will be on dis- play at Hill Auditorium tomorrow..:. But the girlies were not to be de- nied. Gamma Foo's Barge Smith, took a pitchout from the disceased kk Amberson and swivel-hipped, and I mean swivel-hipped, her way to the Michigan 13, where big Low Bowlfullof it, smashed her face into the bright brown turf. The rain grew heavier, and Coach Bong ordered all girlies to wear inflated girdles less they float away. The big Blue line dug in for their last stand. Midway in the third period, Branflakes broke into the clear and took a perfect pass from Dunck McSplash, but Beverly Boublie of Zeta Eta Theta and Ros Gossamer of Crockwell Hall leap- ed high in the air to intercept. The broads had a first down on the Michigan ten, and on the next play, voluptuous Lucious Lunders of Pie Baiter Phi took it over on a sneak . . . right between center Jim Buxoms legs. The score mounted to 21-0, and by now the huge throng was going completely berserk. Ring, Ring the Bells The Bells of Burton rang out joy- ously as the fourth quarter opened, and the very waves of the new womens pool laughed for joy. The Michigan Marching Band boomed out "It's a Womans World," and Boosterbum turned to assistant coach Wooley Beaver, and said "Drat hang those dang girlies af- terall-it wasn't like this in days of Red Grange-or was it?" Boosterbum was just sitting down on the bench, when the girls tallied their fourth score. Sassy Icckyson socked Crammer right in his kisser, he went down like a light, and Iceky swept around his end 98 yards to paydirt. Hsitory had been made. Women are here to stay. Look out Vic Hooligan-they'll be knocking at your Coliseum door next.
