Alternating with Tommy and his brother Jimmy, the Command- ers will also provide the downbeat during the festive e-. ening. Arrayed in gay formal dress, coeds -nd their dates will enter the Intramural Building through the spotlighted and canopied en- trance, to be greeted by Hawaiian girls. After receiving a baby orchid and the special J-Hop favor, the couples will move to the decorated ballroom. A deep blue false ceiling with twinkling stars will look down on the dancers. Tropical fountains with running water and goldfish will grace the corners of the room, with potted plants and palms lining the walls. In keeping with the Bali Hai theme, thatched huts, palm trees and sandy beaches will appear on the murals lining the walls. Decorations on the two band- stands will extend to band mem- bers themselves, who will wear Hawaiian leis. Leis and tropical backdrops will also be provided in the obby for couples wishing to have souvenir pictures taken. Thirsty dancers will find re- freshments available at a thatched hut near the ballroom, while cou- ples wishing to "sit one out" may take advantage of the booths set up by the IHC and many of the fraternities. Coeds are asked not to wear flowers. Tickets for the dance, selling for $7 per couple, will be available from 1 to 5 p.m. today in the Ad- ministration Building and on the Diagonal. Entertainment during the eve- ning will include both square and TIME OUT: Union Will End Semester With Annual Bluebook Ball n Closing the semester in tradi- tional fashion, the Union will sponsor Bluebook Ball from 9 p.m. until midnight Saturday in the Union Ballroom. As a special feature of the eve- ning, Al "Wildcat" Wahl and Dawn Waldron will provide inter- mission entertainment. Wahl and his guitar have become a legend in campus circles because of his un- usual style of presenting a song. Red Johnson and his musical aggregation will offer music for listening and dancing. Johnson not only plays piano with the organi- zation, but does all the arranging. Featured on tenor sax with the band is Mal Campbell, with South- ard "Buzz" Busdicker on lead alto sax and Bob Brandzel on third alto sax. Bass, Drum Rhythm A bass and Jim Pullin on drums will provide rhythm while Don McComas and Jack Straub will play first and second trumpet re- spectively. social dancing, card games, ping pong, lummie sticks and TV. The Lane Hall J-Hop open houses have become a tradition at the University. The open-houses, which are free, are all-campus af- fairs planned especially for those students not attending the dance. Co-chairnen of this year's event are Joyce Long and Pete Fader. Breakfast . J-Hop breakfast will be served from 2:15 a.m. to 3:15 a.m. on Feb. 5 at West Quadrangle for all residents of the three quads and their dates. Juice, scrambled eggs, ham and coffee will be brought to the cou- ples by the West Quad staff. Last year, breakfast was served at East Quad with South Quad holding it the year before. Inter-House Council, which is sponsoring the breakfast, has priced tickets at $1.25 per person. Tickets will be on sale until Jan. 27 at the main desk of each quad. Caduceus Ball Lincoln's birthday will be celebrated by medical students and their dates at the Cadu- ceus Ball from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, in the Union Ballroom. Red Johnson and his or- chestra will perform for the dance sponsored by Galens, an honorary medical society. In addition, Galen members will present a skit during intermis- sion. Bluebook Autographs In the center of the dance floor will be the gigantic bluebook which couples attending the Ball auto- graph semi-annually. Program chairmen, Steve Shlan- ta and Loren Singer, have design- ed tiny bluebooks to be given to all who attempt to forget "bluebook blues" at the dance. Tickets for the evening are priced at $1.50 per couple.
