Lasting from Monday, Novem- ber 15, to Sunday, November 21, stamp week is sponsored annual- ly by the American Stamp Deal- er's Association as a method of recognizing the educational and cultural value of stamp collect- ing. Today, on the anniversary of this address, the A.S.D.A. opens the three-day Sixth National Pos- tage Stamp Show at the 71st In- fantry Regiment Armory, Park Avenue and 34th St., New York, and will conduct a first-day sale of the new stamp. A Child's Hobby? Although some non-collectors look upon stamp collecting as a child's hobby, this pursuit can boast the support of presidents and kings. Perhaps one of the most famous collectors was the late President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The week also will be devoted to furthering the interest of non- collectors in the hobby and in stressing the hobby's advantages; educational, cultural, and bene- ficial. Clubs throughout the coun- try will hold programs, exhibitions, and meetings developed on the Lincoln theme. Through this approach of at- tempting to acquaint both chil- dren and adults with the wealth of knowledge and stories that are connected with the pursuit of thisl hobby, the A.S.D.A. is attempting to interest more people in stamps., Center Plans Book Month Observance In observance of Jewish Book' Month, a program will be pre- sented 8:30 p.m. Monday, at the Beth Israel Center, 1429 Hill.
