According to Bob Knutson, con- cession chairman, there is a possi- - bility that a free monkey show will be included by the firm that sets up the rides. Such favorites N as the Octopus, Ball-a-Plane, Tilt- a-Whirl, Ferris wheel and Merry- Go-Round will be stationed out- side the Field House. The name of the honor society is taken from an old Welsh word meaning "protecting dragon." The organization was founded for the prime purpose of looking after incoming freshman. Mem- bers served as guides and answer- ed questions. In later years the organization became the all campus women's Junior honorary which it is today. The main purpose of Wyvern today is to provide an organiza- tion whereby the women leaders of the junior class will have an op- portunity to meet together to dis- cuss current campus issues and problems. To be eligible for membership in the honorary, a woman must be outstanding in scholarship, lead- ership and service. The scholastic requirement is .2 above the all campus women's average. Tapping and initiation at pres- ent are held once a year in the spring. At this time approximately 20 sophomore women who will be juniors the following fall are chos-, en for membership. Several days after tapping the initiation ceremony is held in the League Chapel. At this time the new member receives a yellow rose and a symbol of membership in the honorary, a gold pin in the shape of a dragon curled around the letter W. Activities which Wyvern has sponsored this year include a par- ty for the children atuthe Michi- gan Children's Institute. Officers of the honorary for the present year are Sally Lorber, pres- ident; Joan Hyman, treasurer; Meg Gunther, secretary and Dot- ty Fink, special projects chairman. Dean Elsie Fuller is and has been for the past few years fac- ulty advisor to the honorary.
