Intent on just such a project were Diane Halbrook and Jack Deppen, who took a trip to a local store. Dressed in the ever-popular plaid, pleated skirt and casual jacket, Diane looked the typical coed as they began their shop- " ping expedition. Once in the store, Diane decided to look over the stock of new spring bonnets. After trying on a variety of styles, she decided on a flat-crowned white straw. Also on display were several designs in red and blue straw. Going next to the dress department, Diane learned that full skirts with yards and yards of petticoats. are "all the rage" this season. After viewing several numbers, she decided on a full-skirted blue and white sleeveless print in paper taffeta with a thin belt and flowers at the waist- line. The next articles to be decided upon were the shoes. With her new dress, Diane favored a pair of blue suede sling-back sandals with a cut-out toe. She also considered low-cut pumps, featuring a square version of the dainty "King Louis" heel. Leaving the selection of a new spring formal until last, Diane needed Jack's approval before purchasing this all- important item. She finally decided upon a pale blue nylon print which gave the illusion of lace. The gown featured a .large bow at the upper bodice and a very full, permanently knife-pleated ballerina-length skirt. An evening bag and gold-toned jewelry completed the outfit. SPRING SUPPLEMENT WRITTEN AND EDITED BY THE WOMEN'S STAFF FRONT 'PAGE PHOTOS .
