Speaking on "The Right to Be Wrong," °Sevellon Brown will de- liver the fourth speech in the 1952-53 series of University Lec- tures in Journalism at 3 p.m. today in Rackham Amphitheater. Brown is a member of the Pul- itzer Prize Board advisory coun- cil, and editor and publisher of the Providence, R. I., Journal and Evening Bulletin. * * HIS SPEECH will deal with the right of a newspaper to support an unpopular opinion, in the face of majority opposition. A former director of the Amer- ican Society of Newspaper Edi- tors and ex-chairman of the Managing Editors Association of the Associated Press, Brown was a delegate to the United Nations Conference on Freedom of In- formation, held in 1948 in Ge- neva. He was one of the founders of the American Press Institute of Columbia University, and served as chairm'an of the advisory board.4 Brown has also worked with the Washington bureaus of the United Press, the New York Morning Sun and the New York Herald. He later served as chief of the Division of Foreign Intelligence of the Department of State. Following Brown's speech, an informal coffee hour will be held in Rm. 1443, Mason Hall. Both events are open to the public. Gabra Will Speak On Ancient Greece Prof. Sami Gabra of Cairo Uni- versity will speak on life in Her- moupolis West, an ancient Greek city near Cairo, at 4:15 p.m. today in Rackham Amphitheater. Prof. Gabra, director of the In- stitute of Archaeology in Cairo, Egypt; conducted excavations of the ancient city from 1931 to 1951. He is now a visiting professor at the Oriental Institute of the Uni- versity of Chicago. The subject of his address will be "Aspects of Art and Thought at Hermoupolis West." "Come of Age," a serious drama by Clements Dane with an orig- inal musical setting by music stu- dent Alexander Smith, opens its two-week run at 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Arts Theater, 209% E. Washington. Clements Dane is the pen-name of Winifred Ashton. "Come of Age," first produced on Broad- way in 1936, was revised for a short time last year by Judith Anderson. The play, which uses modern colloquial English in blank verse, will star Richard Davalos. and Beth-Sheva Laikin. In the modern-dress drama, the seventeen - year - old Chatterton agrees to end his life if he is allowed to return to earth three centuries later. Coming back to earth in 1936, he falls in love and complications ensue.
