SUNDAY, DECEMBER 14, 1952 THE MICHIGAN DAILY Coeds Create Gay Packages, For Presents Imaginative Wrapping With Greens, Ribbons Add To Yuletide Spirit Local stores are featuring a wide variety of gay Christmas wrap- pings again this year. It seems that each year the se- lection of colorful wrapping paper, stickers, and ribbons becomes more varied. Coeds interested in wrapping their gifts to transform them into unique creations will have a hey- day carrying out their ideas. Half the fun of giving Christ- mas gifts is making them eye- catching and watching with de- light as they are opened. Even the smallest gift will"take on added importance when the wrapping shows that time, imag- ination" and thought has been spent on it. This year manufacturers are featuring matched Christmas pa- per, stickers and ribbons all in the same imaginative design and color scheme. They are available in many striking colors. By PAT TEXTER With the spirit of old St. Nick in the air, the familiar campus scenes will soon don a new attire, as they are dressed up with the traditional Christmas trimmings. Familiar places such as the li-' brary will change overnight like magic into representations of min- iature Christmas card scenes. CAMPUS activities will complete this picture of a typical box of Christmas Cards, as all the usual views included in such a collection will be represented. Catching the spirit of good cheer, dormitory and sorority life will center around tradition- al yuletide breakfasts, dinners, and parties. The residents of Martha Cook will start the holiday season with their annual breakfast and "Mes- siah" supper. * * COMPLETE with a bugle rev- eille at 6:15 a.m. the breakfast will include a candle-lit room-to-room procession to the dining room where breakfast will be served amidst appropriate carols. Soloists from "The Messiah," faculty members, and guests will be on hand for "the Messiah" supper presented each year by Martha Cook after the Sunday evening performance. Rounding out the number of houses having breakfasts are Ade- lia Cheever, and Pi Beta Phi. Each year the new members of Pi Phi are initiated into the traditional house festivities with a tree trim- ming party complete with the reading of poems and toys under the tree. THE FOLLOWING morning, ac- tives are ushered into breakfast by a host of new members singing carols.I A formal dinner scene will bes seen at the Chi Omega and Kap- pa Delta houses, when these two groups present their annual Christmas dinners. After reading poems describing the various members, the gaily wrapped presents will be gathered up from under the tree to a needy family. ** * i STRAINS of "Hark the Herald Angels Sing," "Joy the World," and many other songs will float downward to residents of Jordan Hall, as the dorm glee club carols its way to the dining room for their annual dinner. Following the dinner, gifts will be exchanged and a musical pro- gram presented. and givenI t T 1 2 t t 7 11 XMAS CARDS Books for Adults, Books for Children ScrapbooksC Photo Albums '4 Address Books a Stationery OVERBECK 14O 1216 South University ...
