The Christmas party for the Ann Arbor school children spon- sored be the Inter-Fraternity Council has become an annual tradition. This year the council plans to carry out the project somewhat differently than In f or- mer years. All Ann Arbor school children, ,kindergarten through sixth grade, will be Invited to meet at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13 at Hill Audi- torium. The children, some 4,000 in all, will be divided into small- er groups. Each group will be met by rep- resentatives of one of the campus fraternities and escorted to that fraternity house. At the houses informal enter- tainment will be provided for the children. Some houses plan to ask sororities to help them. It is up to each house to decide just what they wish to do. Plans for this part of the aft- ernoon are entirely in the hands of the individual fraternities. The men plan to decorate their houses with the traditional Christ- mas green and red. They'll use lighted trees, bells, wreaths and all the other objects characteris- tic of the holiday season. Some of the houses have planned carol singing and games. Others will entertain the children with stories and skits. Refreshments In the form of cookies, candy and ice cream will be served to the youngsters. Lit- tle favors or gifts are being planned by some houses. About 2:30 p.m. the children will go back to Hill Auditorium for a - program put on by the I.F.C. As in former years, a magician will be on hand to entertain with feats of magic. This part of the program is always a favorite with the children. Carols and other Christmas f a- vorites will be played by a band. The children will join in singing. The grand finale of the after-' noon, of course, will be the ap- pearance of Mr. Christmas him- self, Santa Claus. Amid wild cheering St. Nick will remind the children that "you'd better be good, 'cause Santa Claus is com- ing to town," This year's party will be over at about 4: 30 p.m. The first I.F.C. Christmas party was held in 1930, and the proj- e.ct has been continued every year since'. 'Last year the children were en..- tertained with a program in Eill auditorium. They did not go to the individual houses. The house presi- dents voted this Fall to try the new plan.
