The gifts included: $3,000 from the John Morse Memorial Foundation for engineering and business administration students; $2,000 for a research fellowship in the department of chemical and metallurgical engineering from the Oklahoma Phillips Petroleum Company; and $2,000 from the United Cerebral Palsy Association, Inc. to the Pediatric Neurology Research Fellowship. Grants of less than $2,000 were received for the 1916 Law Class Memorial Scholarship Fund; for a graduate fellowship in engineering mechanics; for the Allied Chemical & Dye Cor- poration scholarship in chemi- cal and metallurgical engineer- ing; for the Dow Chemical Ion Exchange Fellowship; for the Celanese Corporation of Amer- ica fund; and for the Douglas Aircraft Fellowship in Engineer- ing. In addition, a $2,500 sum was allotted to the Michigan Mistor- ical Collections and 13 grants in the $1,000-$100 range were con- tributed to several scholarship and research funds. * * * THREE FACULTY and two committee appointments wound up the Regents' action. University relations director Arthur L. Bran- don was given the additional title of professor of journalism. As a new associate professor of chemi- cal and metallurgical engineering, Lindsey M. Hobbs will teach half- time and do Phoenix Project re- search work. The third appointee, Albert McLean Mattocks was nam- ed lecturer in the College of Phar- macy.
