The annual League Fall Dance, is girl-bid and will be informal for the third year in succession. Setting a carnival atmosphere will be five yellow, blue and pink horses prancing gaily on a pink and white carousel in the center of the ballroom. 'A white picket fence will sur- round the carousel and the grass around it. In the corners of the room will be bright balloon trees covered with pastel balloons to carry out the carnival-like theme. Pink and white scallops will de- corate the bandstand and a huge glass of pink lemonade will be placed on either side. Bill Kline and his orchestra will Iprovide the music for the League's annual girl-bid event. t This year, as in previous years, local stores will present gift cer- tificates to'houses selling the most tickets in proportion to the num- ber of women living in the house. Pink and white striped programs help to carry out the theme of the dance. General chairman for the dance is Joan Prescott, assistant to the chairman of the League Social Committee and in charge of spe- cial events. Other chairmen are Nancie Strome, decorations; Alice Kent, publicity; Janet Campbell, pro- grams; Mary Pike, patrons and Kathy King, tickets. IM Facilities Open Tonight At Exhibition Champions To Show WAA, IM Activities To Interested Students All facilities of the Intramural Building will be open to students at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the an- nual IM Open House, sponsored by the Women's Athletic Associa- tion and the Intramural staff. Sports enthusiasts will be able to participate in badminton, vol- leyball, handball, paddleball and swimming. Another gathering spot for stu- dents will be the trampoline. In addition to these many ac- tivities, exhibitions in badminton, swimming and on the "tramp" will be given. John Davies, Olympic swimming champion from Australia and a student at the University, will be featured in an exhibition in the pool. In the large gymnasium Dave Freeman, one-time national bad- minton champion, and his wife will "bat the bird" in a mixed doubles contest with Kuldip Mani, runner-up in the state men's doubles tournament this year, and Clarice Wilks, who finished sec- ond in the state women's bad- minton singles. Other champions will be featur- ed in the small gymnasium on the trampoline. Ed Buchanan, NCAA, AAU and Big Ten trampoline champ will present a show of skill to inter- est spectators. Proving that women, too, can become proficient in this event, Diane Lahde, winner of the De- troit Turner's Meet, will also dem- onstrate trampoline "know-how." Winners of last year's co-recre- ational volleyball tournament will demonstrate the finer points of the game to interested students. The Ann Arbor Alleycats, under the leadership of Dick Mottern, provide music at the club. Alleycats To Provide Music At 'Little Club' Dances somewhat on campus this week- end with many students already on their way to attend, the big Northwestern game in Illinois. Fans here will spend Saturday afternoon listening to the game or watching it on television while those in Illinois will be looking forward to the fraternity parties and the Victory dance which will be given there. * * * PHI SIGMA KAPPA and Sigma Nu will keep up the spirit of the weekend with record dances at their houses. Reeves House has planned a record dance for Friday night. This will be very informal and refreshments will be cokes and popcorn. Trigon is serving cider and cookies at their record dance Sat- urday. Williams House is also hav- ing a record dance carrying out the atmosphere of the "dive." Checkered tableclothes topped with candle filled whiskey bottles will lend the finishing touches. ONE FEATURE of Williams dance will be records which are among collectors items. These have been loaned by one of the men living there. Everything from waltzes to the Charleston will be heard at the Union record hop from 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Sunday in the small ballroom of the Union. Once again the Union social committee will provide weekly Sunday evening dancing for couples desiring to have one last fling before Monday classes. This year a new series of rec- ords, including the music of such bands as Ralph Flanagan,.Sammy Kaye and Paul Weston, has been slated to serenade Sunday eve- ning dancers. Informality is the mood of this 'dance series with playing cards available to couplestwho would prefer playing canasta or bridge to dancing. Since the Union study hall will also be open on Sunday evenings for Union men and their dates, couples. will be able to combine their classes and studies with con- gas and sambas. WELCOME COEDS! A record crowd of 150 couples; was on hand at the reopening of the "nightclub" last week to cele- brate the beginning of the third consecutive year of its establish- ment on this campus. For the last two years the club was sponsored by the former As- sociation for Independent Men, commonly known as AIM. At that time the "Little Club" was located in the Michigan Room of the League. This year the nightclub site was moved to the Union when the Union scoial committee took over sponsorship. For the third consecutive year the Ann Arbor Alleycats will be the regular feature of the "Little Club" every Friday. The student-run club will con- tinue, as it did in the past, to pro- vide the campus with new enter- tainment on Friday nights throughout the semester. Since the club is designed to ca- ter to the students, the Union so- cial committee is anxious to re- ceive suggestions from club pa- trons on how to improve the dance.
