ThURSDAY, APRIL 30, 1953 THE MICHIGAN DAILY PAGE FV THEs .IaCHIGAN fl' AlY s a sr s aT u Crease Ball To Renew Rivalry '4. Law Society Will Present Annual Dance Lawyers and engineers will re- new traditional rivalry at the Bar- rister's Crease Ball to be held from 9:30 p.m.to 1 a.m. tomorrow in the Union Ballroom. Competition between these two groups dates back many years, when every spring before gradua- tion a 'swing out" march proced- ed through campus. Leading the procession were the lawyers, fol- lowed by the engineers. AS THE LINE reached the En- gineering Arch, the.men of law re- fused to go through, so with the engineers pushing the battle be- gan. When the present Lawyer's Club was built in 1925, Crease Ball was well-remembered" that ,year. Creeping into the cellar, the engineers threw the switch of the main fuse box emersing the ballroom in darkness. Since Crease Ball and Slide Rule Ball are held at different times this year, the dance promises to be a quieter affair. * * * EARLE PEARSON and his or- chestra's, stylings will provide mu- sic for Crease Ball. The band fea- tures a muted brass section with added woodwind effects supplied by Pearson who plays flute, clari- net, saxophone and English horn. Pearson has done special ar- rangements and background mu- sic for the Modernaires and Shep Fields' orchestra. He con- ducted the spring performance of the Union Opera last year. Featured vocalist for the or- chestra is Laurie Woods. Tickets for the dance are $2.75 per couple and may be purchased at Hutchins Hall or from any Bar- rister. Late purchasers may buy tickets at the dance for $3. Women are requested not to wear corsages. -Dail-TimRichard THROUGH THE YEARS-Just as the lawyers' dress has changed, so has their annual dance, Crease Ball, to be held tomorrow.
