Students will have an opportun- ity to watch the Blue team pitch the "Whirled Series" from 9 p.m. to midnight tomorrow in the Lea- gue Stadium when members of the team take the mound for Frosh Weekend. In keeping with the baseball theme chosen by team members, couples attending the boy-bid dance will find themselves trans- ported to the "old baseball park." TAKING OVER the decorations for the east half of the League Ballroom, the Blue team has marked out a baseball diamond on the floor in masking tape. Mu- rals depicting the grand stands complete with fans, popcorn ven- dors and cheering section will also help carry out the theme. Tickets, in the form of base- ball bats, will be available at the door, priced at $1.50 per couple. The floorshow, an important part of the evening's plans, is built around the history of baseball. Written by team members, it will feature both original music and take-offs on well-known songs. DRESSY DRESSES and heels are in order for the evening, when Ted Smith and his orchestra will be at bat. Acting as judges on both to- night and tomorrow evening will be Mrs. Elizabeth Leslie, Mr. Russell C. Hussey and Mr. James B. Wallace. A plaque will be awarded to the winning team. Maize ... Space men and robots will come to life from 9 p.m. to midnight tonight in the League Ballroom when Maize team members pre- sent "Jumpin' Jupiter." * * * VIEING FOR TOP honors in the annual Frosh Weekend com-1 petition, Maizians promise that couples attending will find the boy-bid dance "Out of this world." Space men will look down on the festivities from the balcony over the door and also keep an eye on their space ship, which will be in evidence during the evening. The Newman Club and the Ha- waiian Club will be the co-spon- sors of a "Hard Times" party to be given from 8 p.m. to midnight, Friday, in the Newman Club base- ment. * * * * SQUARE DANCING and regu- lar dancing as well as group games and stunts will be on the agenda at the bluejeans party. Entertain- ment by the Hawaiian Club will be followed by refreshments. This dance is open to all members and their guests. Small bracelets and red rose corsages will be given to all dates of the Phi Sigma Kappas' at their pledge formal. Musical selections will be given out by Earl Pearson's band. Dinner and dancing to the mu- sic of Johnny Habard will be the high points of the Collegiate So- rosis Pledge Formal. - * The "M.S.C. Pinafore" will again be revived by Taylor House and Helen Newberry, 10:30 p.m., to- night, at the Club 600. A song fest and refreshments will follow the production. An Open House will be held at the Theta Xi House tomorrow night feting visiting fraternity chapters who are here for their Regional Conference. A BUMMY atmosphere, slum- my refreshments and the Phi Del- ta Theta men dressed like bums will all be a part of their annual "Hobo Hubble" party. German costumes, German bar decorations and German re- cords will be featured at the "Deutsch" party given by Phi Kappa Tau men, while Theta Delta Chi couples will be clad in pajamas in honor of their "P.J." Party. Checkered tablecloths and can-! dles will provide atmosphere at G h e annual Michigan House "French Cellaire." The men will! be dating coeds from Michigan State Normal College for the event. South Quad is sponsoring a Fa- culty Open House from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday. Two hundred South Quad men will act as hosts to their 300 guests. The Faculty Trio from Ypsilanti will provide musical renditions and punch, coffee and nuts will be served. 9 'i: .' f Women counselors are needed to act as advisors to high school girls at the Wolverine Girls' State Convention June 15 through 24 at the University. Wolverine Girls' State is the Michigan unit of a nation-wide program sponsored by the Ameri- can Legion Auxiliary. * * * OUTSTANDING girls from Mi- chiganhigh schools are sent to the convention to study govern- ment and elect officers on a city, county, and state basis, like that of the state government. There are openings for fifteen women to act as city counselors for the girls. Counselors will live in Stockwell dormitory, be paid 25 dollars and are provided with free room and board for the two week session. The counseling program in- cludes leadership training, house- hold arts, dramatics, fine arts,1 physical education and hospital work.
