'V THE MICHIGAN DAILY FRIDAY, MARCH 21, 1!%2 Dean Bacon Kept on Run ByNight Mob (Continued from Page 1) SPURRED ON by a flashing red light in an Alice Lloyd Hall win- dow, the masochistic crowd yelled at women lining the windows, "Water, water!" The chant was well rewarded. Droves of attackers were drenched with water and a few missed being hit by flying wastebaskets. After futile attempts to crash the large glass doors into the main lounge of the Hall, a few enterprising males climbed up on the roof and jumped through open windows to the horror of surprised residents. While housemothers looked on half-smilingly, a steady stream of yelling students piled into the top floors and ran rampant through the corridors. Some invaded wom- en's rooms and escaped to the out- doors waving unmentionables. * * * MOVING ON to Couzens Hall, the crowd became more sedate in the face of locked doors. A staff member finally opened the front portal when, as she explained later, "I thought it was good psychology." After a brief tour of Couzens, the crowd gathered momentum again with cries of "On to Vic- to Vaughn!" The Vaughan in- vasion proved to be the turning point when, after a thorough survey of the dorm's interior, the mob was quieted by a resign- ed Dean Bacon who soberly told members of the group the fun was over. As the remnants of the once boisterous crew straggled toward State St., the dean walked toward a waiting car whistling in the face of a battery of photographers. At 10 p.m. a strange calm quick- ly descended over Ann Arbor. By midnight, however, gangs of men's dorm residents were gathering their forces for a new attack on tightly locked Martha Cook.
