MEN'S RUBBER FOOTWEAR (Continued from Page 1) Finally at 19:04 Pat Cooney stole the puck from the Spartans just alongside of their nets and rammed the disc past Del Reid for the lead that the Wolverines never relinquished. COACH Vic Heyliger's men then added a trio of goals in each of .the remaining periods to breeze to the hard earned victory. Doug Mullen and McKennell led the Maize and Blue goal- getters with two apiece, but the team's leading scorer, Bob Heathcott kept up his pace with three points on a goal and two assists. The second period was the ;quietest 20 minutes of the night, but it saw the Wolverines move Oh Come Now! IONIA.Mich. - (AP) - Here's how quarterback Al Dorow of Michigan State would compare All-Americans Vic Janowicz of Ohio State and Dick Kazmaier of Princeton: If Janowicz, one of the great- est football players I've ever seen, had played with us he would have run wild. Kazmaier probably wouldn't have made the Michigan State first team last year. He ran straight up in comparison to Janowicz who drove through with his head down." into a commanding 4-0 lead before 4 the Spartans' John Mayes beat Willard Ikola in the Michigan nets for State's only score. * * * PRIOR TO that Mullen, Mc- Kennell and George Chin had tal- lied for the Wolverines. Mullen's goal came on his own rebound af- ter he received the puck on a cross rink pass from Heathcott who had stolen the rubber at the MSC blue line. McKennell and Chin notched their goals within a minute and a half of each other. McKennell was credited with his score be- caase his stick was the last to touch a deflected screen shot that Reggie Shave sent toward the Spartan net from 30 feet out. # # s THE WOLVERINES poured it on in the final stanza as Heath- NOW grow a MUSTACHE of distinction STACHIELD f safety to form any .. rozor can style you Wi A od be used ttisony - aossu re oo tarts many years - mail $1.50 or C. . b. to F. By DICK SEWELL While the rest of the campus is busy taking and recovering from final exams Michigan's scarred hardwood warriors will take the court in four Big Ten contests and one non-league encounter. The Wolverines will meet Mich- igan State this Saturday, and Northwestern on Monday, January 21, in home games; and are sche- duled to do battle with Marquette on Saturday, February 2, North- western again on Saturday, Feb- ruary 9, and Iowa on Monday, February 11 in away tilts. * * * BOTH HOME GAMES will start at 8:00 p.m. at Yost Fieldhouse. The battle with the Spartans looms as a real toughy for Mc- Coy's young charges. MSC will come to town with a 8-3 season mark. Last year the Green and White handed the Wolverines their lumps on two occasions, wining 49-36 and 43-32. Pacing the Spartan attack are forwards Keith Stackhouse and Bill Bower. Footballer Bob Carey once again holds down the center berth. ON THE OTHER side of the picture, the MSC offense is the most powerful in recent years. Northwestern found this out early this season when Michigan State trounced them 82-49 to establish a new Jenison Fieldhouse record. The Wildcats' roster mirrors Michigan's lack of experience. Coach Harold Olsen can claim only three returning lettermen from a squad that finished fourth in last year's Big Ten race. Captain Bernie Brady is the only regular returning. * * * IOWA, CURRENTLY tied for the Big Ten lead with Illinois, will give the Wolverines a second SAM Triumphs Sigma Alpha Mu had little trouble winning the fraternity handball championship yester- day as it whipped Delta Kappa Epsilon in two straight events, 2-0.
